Selling Point: Cheap Land and a Fraction of the Cost of Living
The cost of living in the GTA is making a lot of residents wonder about how they can survive in the city.
With the cost of living expected to continue rising in the coming years, including higher mortgage payment, and with housing becoming more expensive and in short supply, a few are looking north of the city for cheaper housing options.
And at the same time, a town in Northern Ontario has experienced a large exodus of its residents due to a paper mill closure nearby. That's left a lot of vacant land in Smooth Rock Falls.
To encourage Toronto area people to consider the move up north as a permanent or part time residents, the Town of Smooth Rock is offering a 2nd round of incentives to help newcomers own their piece of Smooth Rock Falls Real Estate.
The 1st round of incentives met with resounding success including NR5's own investment in property and the development of 15 new energy efficient homes in Smooth Rock Falls. Starting at $149,000, these new homes represent big news to those living in Northeastern Ontario and for retirees looking for that elusive affordble retirement living option.
CTV news covered the new round of financial incentives news in a video and a news story.
