This is the next one-minute segment of an interview that I did. I was talking about the six business trends you must know to survive marketing in 2013. The segment for today is about apps as an essential tool.
Here are some point-form notes to summarize:
-an iPad or Android app will be more important to you in 2013 than your website
-people are spending more time on iPad apps than the internet
-as businesses finally figure out websites, consumers have shifted to apps
-if your business is not planning or creating an app for 2013, you may not be in business in two years
Apps are an essential part of the mobile experience, being often more convenient to the user than mobile browsing. The mobile world itself is essential, and let's recap why:
- 1.08 billion mobile phones are smartphones
- In 2011, more people bought a smartphone than a PC
- One in seven searches is done on a mobile device
- 59% of people ages 18 - 34 access social networking sites through their mobile phones
If apps are not already a part of your business plan, they should be.
