3 Social Media Sales Tips To Connect With More Prospects

Social media can be an invaluable tool for your business, but when your staring at a computer screen all day it’s easy to forget that you’re communicating with more than just your keyboard. Whether your on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or any other social network it’s important to remember what your there for—to connect with prospects. That means putting your best foot forward and building relationships with every opportunity. Unfortunately it’s not always easy to build those connections. That’s why N5R has put together a list of 3 Social Media Sales Tips To Connect You With More prospects.

1. Personalize Invitations

People are on social media to connect with other people, not faceless corporations. When you talk to customers, make sure they know they’re interacting with a person. The best way to do this is through personalization. When you send a message to a prospect on LinkedIn, for example, make sure it’s personalized. Use their name and tell them in a few sentences why you’re trying to connect with them. Don’t just let LinkedIn fill your message with its default text. Use the message to help break the ice and start building a rapport.

Make sure you’re using personalization in your responses to prospects as well. Using a generic auto response might seem like a time saver, but you’ll be hurting your prospect relationship. Send responses that speak to that prospect specifically and use your expertise to provide them with some value. It will make your prospect feel appreciated and that can go a long way in terms of building a connection.

2. A Photo Says a Million Words

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again—people want to connect with people. Use every opportunity you have to remind your prospects that there is a real person on the other end of your social media accounts. A great place to start is with your profile picture. Use a clear picture that speaks to the tone of your brand. This picture should serve as a reminder to prospects that they are interacting with a person with likes and interests and gives them a face to put with their conversations. It might seem simple, but this can go a long way towards building a relationship.

3. Get Involved

One of the biggest benefits of social media is its ability to start conversations. Use this function as a way to connect. Don’t be afraid to jump into different conversations online. Networks like Facebook and Twitter are all about shared public conversations and the best way to meet new prospects is to contribute. You never know what kind of new connections you’ll end up with when you start sharing your thoughts and ideas with the public. Treat social media like you would a conference—engage new people and contribute your two cents to conversations.

Use these tips to your advantage and always remember to remind prospects that there is a person on the other end of your account. Engage your contacts, get conversations started and you never know what connections could spark your next sale!
